Developed from conversations among Vermont environmental leaders in 2021, the Vermont Biodiversity Alliance proposes that:
A network of conservation leaders, thinkers, and practitioners can achieve more on behalf of nature than the independent efforts of any one group.
By drawing on the depth of conservation talent and scientific expertise, as well as the broad array of programs offered by state agencies, academic institutions, and conservation organizations, Vermont can continue to develop as a national leader in biodiversity conservation.
Our efforts reflect the global scale and scope of the biodiversity crisis and Vermont’s own conservation story must be shared at regional, national, and international scales to benefit Vermonters and our State.
Vision
We envision a state, country, and planet where the remarkable diversity of life is protected, ecosystem function is preserved, and evolutionary processes are maintained. We envision a future where Vermont is a leader in biodiversity conservation.
Goals
Increase awareness of the critical importance of biodiversity conservation as well as actions Vermont’s citizens can take to conserve biodiversity.
Support biodiversity conservation and restoration efforts on Vermont's public and private land with the most current biodiversity conservation research.
Promote the integration of biodiversity conservation into community planning, natural resource management, and governance at multiple scales from local to global.
Facilitate learning and the exchange of information, expertise, and resources across the Members organizations and individuals within the Alliance.
Enable Vermonters to access trusted and reliable resources and information on biodiversity conservation and highlight contributions made by Alliance Members towards biodiversity conservation and restoration across the State.
Mission
We unite the Vermont conservation community to accelerate and amplify biodiversity conservation through collaboration, education, and communication.
